Holy shit and praise Satan, Moongoons! Boy, did we find a rare gem of a a movie this week. Raise your devil horns and sink your pitchforks into the 1988 "Hack-o-Lantern" aka "Halloween Night". This little known film features a Satanic cult, incest, not one but TWO hair metal bands (that may have a record for world's largest hair), terrible acting, the world's worst mother, a porn star, a spontaneous stand up comedy routine and surprisingly decent kills. This hard to find film is definitely worth your time to find and watch.
Ep.182: Halloween Night (2009)
You're not having deja vu, this week's movie is the 2009 horror movie "Halloween Night". This ultra indie slasher nearly broke us and killed a little piece of our souls. Everything that can be bad in horror movie this movie has in spades. It's so terrible that it's not even worth my time trying to write a witty blurb about it. But, hey listen to the episode and have fun listening to us lose our minds over this train wreck of a film
Ep.181: Halloween Night (2006)
This week we're taking on the 2006 slasher "Halloween Night". This indie movie from Asylum Films is just another run of the mill cookie cutter, paint by numbers slasher that follows the same old formula that we've seen hundreds of times before. It doesn't reinvent the wheel or break any new ground, but it has really great kills, solid gore and practical effects, pretty decent acting and a boob count that is through the roof.
Ep.180: Freddy Vs Jason (watch-a-long)
The week we're taking a break from the terribleness and inviting you to come hang out with us as we watch the incredibly fun slasher showdown that is "Freddy Vs Jason". So get comfortable, kick your feet up, grab a beer and watch along with us as we watch this 2003 fun filled thrill ride and also talk about our love for Monica Keena.
Ep.179: Rocktober Blood
This week we squeezing into our leather pants and jamming out some power chords as we rock out to "Rocktober Blood". What this 1984 movie lacks in suspense, and good acting it more than makes up for with plot holes, surprisingly catchy and good rock music and an epic stage show ending that needs to be seen to believe.
Ep.178: Zombie Holocaust aka Dr. Butcher M.D.
You got your cannibal movie in my zombie movie. You got your zombie movie in my cannibal movie! This week we're taking on the Italian gore movie "Zombie Holocaust" aka "Dr. Butcher M.D.". This hot mess of a gore film suffers from a major identity crisis not knowing if it wants to be a gory cannibal movie or a crappy nonsensical zombie movie. The only thing the makers of this mess seemed to care about is the gore and shock value. Which we will say for the time they succeeded at, but that's pretty it.
Ep.177: Ghoulies 3: Ghoulies Go to College
Finally, our lost episode has been found, fixed and is ready to go. So check out our take on "Ghoulies 3: Ghoulies go to College". We originally recorded this back in the spring of 2017 with special guest Paul Cochran, who would later go on to co-host the "Pop Culture Intervention Podcast". There may be some audio issues with this episode due to the issues we had with the new audio recording software we used on this episode, but other wise sit back and enjoy our long lost episode.
Ep.176: Miner's Massacre aka Curse of the 49er
This week we're grabbing our pickaxes and going gold hunting! Will we strike gold with the listener suggested "Miner's Massacre" aka "Curse of the 49er" or will we hit a turd vein? This early 2000's slasher features all the usual suspects of a bad horror movie but yet also features some great actors in confusingly small and meaningless roles, a killer with a confusing backstory, and more explosions than blood.
P.S.- Please forgive the echoing effect that comes up near the end of the episode
Ep.175: Troll 2 & Best Worst Movie (watch along)
Oh my Gaaawwwwwwddd! It's the 175th episode and we're going big, we're going iconic by watching the infamous "Troll 2". What more do we really need to say here about this famously horrible movie? So, cue it up, grab a beer, sit back and join us as we watch "Troll 2".
Ep.174: Lifeforce
Strap in Moongoons, because this week we're blasting off into space for one hell of a crazy ride. We watched "Lifeforce" an insane sci-fi horror movie made by the infamous Cannon production company. Released in 1985, "Lifeforce" features amazingly insane moments, great special effects, plot holes, space vampires, and a super hot french chick who spends the whole movie naked.
Ep.173: Sharkenstein
It's shark week again, so that means its once again time to chum the waters for another terrible shark movie. This year we fished up, cooked, and sank our teeth into the 2016 "Sharkenstein". A movie so unbelievably bad that it's nearly beyond words. Featuring bad acting, horrendous CGI, tons of stock footage, and a terrible puppet shark that looks more like an ugly blue burrito with the face of an old man than a shark.
Ep.172: Friday the 13th Part 7: The New Blood (watch along)
This week we invite you to join us as we watch one of our favorite installments in the "Friday the 13th " series, "Friday the 13th Part 7:The New Blood". This particular installment holds a special place in our hearts and was our favorite way back when we were just little Moongoons. So, watch along with us as we pop some beers, crack some jokes and take a trip back to Crystal Lake.
Ep.171: Bedeviled
This week's listener suggested movie is a cautionary tale about over dependence to cell phones and a killer "Siri" like app. We watched "Bedeviled", a 2016 techno-paranormal horror movie featuring run of the mill high school kids who are clearly not high school kids, techno-babble, practically no kills, no gore, and so much blue lighting that Eiffel 65 would loose their God Damn minds.
Ep.170: Ice Cream Man
The dog days of summer are here and with that comes the 4th of July, so that means fireworks and ice cream. So in honor of that this week we're scooping up the "Ice Cream Man". This 1995 straight to video horror flick stars Clint Howard, as the creepy Ice Cream Man and he crushes it. Also, starring Jan Michael Vincent (who clearly doesn't want to be in the movie), Lee Major Jr., a not fat, fat kid and the MILF kid from the "American Pie" movies. It also features ridiculous sight gag props, virtually no gore, and bikes equipped with missile launchers.
Ep.169: Lake Fear 3
Well Moongoons, this week's movie "Lake Fear 3" just may be one of the all time worst movies ever made. It's so bad that I don't even know what to say about it. It has no plot or story, barely any characters; the ones we do get have zero real personality or development, there is practically no meaningful dialogue. The lighting is atrocious and the sound design is even worse! There is also no sense to be made from this catastrophe of a movie, and for a movie called "Lake Fear 3" there's also no LAKE! But hey at least about 90% of the movie is shot in slow motion!
Ep.168: The Devil's Rain
This week’s offering to the horror God’s is “The Devil’s Rain”. This obscure cult classic from 19975 is one crazy and confusing ride. Lead by an insane all star cast this whack-a-doodle movie features a confusing and head scratching plot with no exposition, dozens of melting Satan worshipping occultists who bleed colored ice cream, lots of bad decisions, and a pre-Scientology pre Xenu John Travolta. AND THAT’S NOT ALL! It also stars a half man half goat Ernest Borgnine and a topless screaming William Shatner and both men absolutely crush it!
Ep.167: The Monster Squad (watch along)
This week we’re doing something a little different by actually watching a good movie. Not only are we watching a good movie but we’re inviting you to watch it with us! So pull up a chair and watch along with us as we comment, laugh, reminisce and relive our childhood by watching the 1987 classic “The Monster Squad”.
Ep.166: Slumber Party Massacre 2
This week we’re going slumming with “Slumber Party Massacre 2”, a sequel so bad that its nearly unfathomable. A horror movie that is more musical and product placement commercial than an actual horror movie. It features loads of terrible music, a leather clad guitar drill welding greaser killer, and more dream sequences than a “Nightmare on Elm St.” movie and “Inception” combined. In the end it left us thinking what the hell did we just watch and more importantly just…why?
Ep.165: Blood Hook
This week we’re going on a little fishing trip, we’re baiting our hooks and fishing up “Blood Hook”. This obscure mid-80’s horror movie is certainly one of a kind, in that it may be the only fishing themed slasher movie ever made. This unique Troma distributed movie features lots of fishing, muskies, giant killer fishing lures, angry cicadas, music theory, and insane rants. However its not all bad, it also has surprisingly good acting, the world’s worst expertise obsessed mother, and an ending sequence that is just pure insane ridiculousness.
Ep.164: The Last Slumber Party
This week we’re slipping into our PJs, popping some popcorn, calling over all our girlfriends, and pillow fighting with “The Last Slumber Party”. This 1988 straight to video slasher just may be the worst movie ever made and nearly broke Marshall. This fascinatingly terrible movie features an entire cast that seems to be doped up on Xanax, horrendously bad to nonexistent blood effects, atrocious and robotic acting and writing, and a killer that defies all the laws of science and nature and always seems to look like he just snorted a line of meth. If you think you can handle this monstrosity think again, you are not prepared.
